what to do if someone offers more than the buy it now price on an ebay item

I accept a long and happy history with eBay. I logged in to check and I've had an active business relationship since 17 June 2001. And before and so my but experience of sale sites was Yahoo auctions, the biggest difference being that if you were caught in a bidding state of war at the end of an auction, the time would keep on extending until someone gave upward. I learnt my lesson the hard way after spending £xxx on a Backstreet Boys CD single which was the only i missing from my collection. To my heed, eBay was improve because the end fourth dimension was static. That was until Vinted came along and it prompted me to compare the ii; an ebay vs Vinted battle royale if you volition!

Dorsum in 2001 Paypal wasn't really a thing, so you had to buy everything by cheque or postal social club (who?) which meant past the time you lot'd sent off your bank check and the seller had waited for it to cash, yous were looking at effectually a six month turn around to receive the This Life VHS box set you paid £1.99 for. Fast forward to 2018 and it's safety to say that lxx% of my wardrobe are things I've bought off eBay. eBay'due south success also means that companies like Raise.com are ofttimes offering discount coupons, meaning that yous tin can become your discounted stuff, even cheaper in some cases; https://www.raise.com/coupons/ebay

Over the years other online market places have come and gone, but none of them seem to have been any match for the marketplace juggernaut. And more importantly no space left in my obsession closet for anything new. That is of course until Linda introduced me to Vinted.

Similar to Ebay, information technology'due south a marketplace place where yous can sell all your second hand wares. I've only been using it for a couple of months, and so I'thousand non certain whether information technology's just the novelty of information technology that I'1000 loving and so much, and perchance I'll be crawling back with my tail betwixt my legs begging Ebay for forgiveness in a few months' time, but I'm going to get crazy and suggest that Vinted may be fifty-fifty better than Ebay!

And then what are the differences betwixt the two sites and what makes ane better than the other? Let'southward take a look:

Bidding fashion

EBay is the well-known tried and tested formula of a skillful old fashion sale with the buy it now selection on a lot of things. This means y'all can get some real bargains as low every bit 99p if y'all're lucky enough. Vinted is stock-still price which means you're likely to pay slightly more but tin can win things instantly rather than wait for the sale to end or risk being out bid. That said on Vinted you are immune to submit offers to buyers to get things a little cheaper and nearly sellers are open to negotiation or swap.

Selling

Vinted is much more social than EBay – where if yous have a question yous have to submit it via their internal email style organization. On the Vinted app the messaging system works more like Whatsapp. Y'all tin see when a seller was last online and chat to them near pricing or stamp more than like a text conversation. This feels much more laid back and modern.

Fees

This is where  I adopt EBay considering the price you run into (or the cost you win at) is the price you pay plus postage stamp. On Vinted, after you buy something there is a pocket-sized service fee added to your order, usually between 50p – £1 for items under £5 Which, whereas is not a big amount, it sometimes bumps your lodge up a little more than than what the quick maths you've done in your head has amounted to. In this respect, Vinted favours the sellers; by getting the buyer to pay the fee it means you're non stung with the listing fees you always forget nigh when selling stuff on Ebay.

Swapping

When it was launched in 2008 the whole thought behind Vinted was to give Lithuanian woman the opportunity to swap clothes. And whilst the swapping option is even so available through a Vinted account, you tin can country as a user that yous're non interested in swapping, which most people seem to do. In fact I don't think I've come beyond a user who does want to swap, first the question how long is that option going to be made available for?

Refunds

When you receive the item from Vinted, you have to click the received push and whether y'all accept an issue or not, otherwise the seller doesn't go paid.  If you accidentally click that there is no issue, but then yous find out at that place is, Vinted won't give you the money dorsum.  They will have automatically released your money to the seller and y'all have to negotiate with them to get a refund. On EBay the buyer pays the seller directly and immediately or the seller won't ship the item. EBay accept a very skillful resolutions process though where if you lot're unhappy with an item or don't receive it at all, EBay will step in to resolve. And it about always falls in favour of the buyer.

Feedback

This is largely the aforementioned across both sites to be off-white. They both operate a star rating and you tin add your own comments about how fast someone took to pay, delivery etc. The adept thing about Vinted is if yous're besides busy swanning around in your new £five one-piece to remember to go out feedback, it automatically leaves positive feedback for you later a few days of you lot confirming receipt. Which takes the pressure off having to recollect to practise it yourself.

Some of my favourite eBay wares:

And so, when it comes to wearing apparel I admittedly love the immediate nature of Vinted and not having to expect weeks for an auction to end but to be pipped at the post at the last infinitesimal like yous do with EBay. It has a great customs feel and all the users I've interacted with have been genuinely lovely.

I think, however, if you're looking for another other than apparel; things like spare mobile phone chargers because you lot left nevertheless some other ane in a hotel room in Eastbourne (for case) so EBay still rules the school.
